Welcome to the Author Spotlight post. Each week I will feature a different author and share a little about them, their writing and their success. If you are a blogger and/or author and would like to be considered for the Author Spotlight, please contact me for more information.
Q: Tell the readers a little about yourself and your blog.
I am a mother of 4 and co-owner of a heating and cooling business with my husband. I’ve always dreamed of being a writer and have dabbled at it for 20 years. I decided once my youngest entered Kindergarten that I would start devoting more of my time to writing. That led me to blogging which evolved into my current blog, Daily Alchemy. I am a spiritual alchemist, reiki master, and law of attraction pracitioner. My spiritual life colors everything else I do and has improved my life so much that I wanted to share my spiritual pracitces with my readers. I started off wanting to only write fiction, but I’ve had so much fun with Daily Alchemy and the non-fiction ebooks I’ve written, Personal Alchemy and Relationship Alchemy, that I’m really glad I made room to explore non-fiction, too!
Q: How long have you been blogging and how did you get started?
I started Daily alchemy in earnest in Febuary of 2013. I had played with blogging on and off for about a year before that, but I kept changing the name and the format. Once I settled on Daily Alchemy and decided to focus on positive thought posts, it began to take form.
Q: How often do you work on your blog?
I work on my blog on average 15-20 hours a week. Part of that time is writing blog posts, but I usally spend about 5-6 hours on Social Media a week, plus working on ebooks and other info products I plan to sell on the blog and answering e-mails and messages.
Q: Is your blog a hobby or your profession?
Right now, it’s somewhere in between for me. I love it so much, that I’m working towards making it a full-fledged business. I also homeschool my children and work part time helping my husband run our heating and cooling business so I’m limited in the time I can spend. It doesn’t bring in much of our income yet, but it’s starting to be self-supporting now with my ebooks and I hope that as I add products and services it will become more of a profession for me.
Q: What is the main goal or purpose of your blog?
I’ve been very fortunate to have a wonderful life molded by the positive thought and spiritual practices I engage in. My goal is to share tips and stories that uplift readers and inspire them to create a life they love as well.
Q: What secrets would you pass on to aspiring bloggers?
Stick with a main topic that you love, post a couple times a week if possible, and don’t forget to tie in social media. Also, don’t get discouraged, it takes some time to build a following. Keep going!
Q:What’s on the horizon for you and your blog?
I am planning to add new services and products that offer support and go into more depth about the topics I write about. I am also hoping to branch out and have more guest posts on Daily Alchemy, as well as reaching out and sharing my writing on other forums too.
