The great thing about heaven or the universe (if you prefer to call it that) is that it’s always there. Listening, watching and waiting. Friends may leave, family may be too self-absorbed but the universe is always there – at your service. Imagine my joy when I finally arrived at this truth! All my life I thought my prayers fell on deaf ears and communication was a one-way street as far as heaven was concerned. While a booming voice from the skies may not inform you that your desired outcome is on its way, heaven has its subtle ways to communicate with you. But let me warn you all these signs are easy to miss unless you are alert and open to them. It requires a deeper perception than normal to spot them amidst the myriad of things that flood our consciousness. But with practice you can spot out heaven’s signs with ease and accuracy.
Angel therapist, Doreen Virtue opened up the world of angels and signs for me. From that point on my life was never the same. I have found so many pennies, feathers, seen so many rainbows and butterflies that I’m convinced that I am never alone, no matter how lonely I feel. I also know that heaven sends me signs to let me know it hears and answers my prayers.
I remember seeing a rainbow a few minutes before my precious daughter broke her arm. It was a very rare fracture and so many things could have gone wrong. It was very close to the growth plate and finding a surgeon was just a shot in the dark. But the rainbow constantly reminded me of heaven’s help and protection. I never once lost hope, no matter what horrible scenarios the hospital staff came up with. In the end, we were blessed with one of the best orthopedic surgeons, who avoided major surgery and fixed her bones with pins. Her arm healed at a miraculously fast rate but she still had a long way to go before she could move her arm freely. Something urged me to call all my close friends and ask them to pray for her. A chain of prayers and heaven’s assurance in the form of helpful friends and teachers made us feel truly blessed even in the face of something so scary.
One time when I was confused about starting a blog (free WordPress blog versus website) I got a sign from heaven that was…well, let’s say difficult to decipher. One day when I went to the parking lot a beautiful web was waiting for me, spun between my car and my neighbor’s car. When I backed out the web was destroyed. The next day another web was waiting for me and the same thing happened. By the fourth day, it finally dawned on me that this was not a coincidence. The web was telling me to go for my own website instead of a free blog!
Signs don’t always appear on their own. I have learned that it helps to explicitly ask for a sign during prayer. When we were looking to move to North Carolina, I prayed that we find a good house to move to. We spent two weeks looking at properties, with no luck. I prayed every day and asked for a sign but none appeared. Deep down I felt this was not meant to be. All the same we paid a deposit on a rental property. When we returned to Florida, our permanent residence cards got approved and we had to give up all thoughts of moving. Moving meant changing our address and indefinite delays in getting the card – something we had waited nine years for! And get this – the rental deposit was refunded since they couldn’t provide us an apartment for the date we had agreed upon.
More recently, our big move from Florida to Washington was a stressful time for me. It meant starting over, finding a new job, making new friends and getting used to the cold! I wasn’t very happy when we got here in June and summer (as I know it) had still not arrived. I was cold, lonely, jobless, bordering on depression. Every day a white butterfly would swing by my patio. Every day for nearly three months! Tears are stinging my eyes as I type these words…heaven cares about me and about you. Now I have friends, I have a job (may not be the perfect job but it keeps me busy) and Washington had one of the best summers ever. Even fall has been kind to me with its sunshiny days interspersed with rain.
Communing with heaven is not something reserved for ‘special’ people or ‘spiritual’ people. Anyone can do it. Anyone who needs reassurance, support and just a little magic to go on. Just ask and then watch and wait for the magic to unfold.
