Do you ever wonder why the things you want in life don’t always occur? Or maybe you are terminally bored and nothing excites you anymore. Either way, what has happened is that the energy around you has become stagnant. It is time the shake up your energy so you are happier and more at peace.
How do you do that? It all depends on what your needs are. Once you read my examples, you should be able to personalize “the change” for your situation.
- This first exercise was originally from Feng Shui. I use it when I want things to change, but don’t have anything specific in mind. I’m just bored. Here it is: Go around your home and change 8 things. Move them around, throw them away, swap them out, change their order, clean the area, do anything that makes you see a difference. Numbers in Feng Shui are meaningful, just like numerology. The number 8 stands for infinity, abundance and success, so change your 8 items and observe what happens in your life in the coming week. Remember, everything is made up of energy and you have just made a significant change in the energy around your space, so there must be a corresponding change in other energy in your life.
- You can shake your energy up by doing something totally out-of-character for you. My favorite example of this kind of shake up happened to me recently. I am a committed “cat person” from way back, but I went out and got myself a dog. I haven’t given up on cats; I just decided I wanted to experience the energy of this particular dog that I found at the animal shelter. The relationship between a dog and an owner is totally different than the energy between a cat and its owner. My daily life is different now because of this dog. My routine is different, I have met new people on walks, I am learning about the world of dogs, how they think and how to train them. I have also had spiritual insights about myself. Don’t think a dog would do it for you? Then take piano lessons, learn how to crochet, plan a vacation and study up on the location before you go, redecorate a room from top to bottom. Do something huge that will shake up the energy in your world and stretch yourself to learn new things or meet new people. Maybe getting a dog won’t work for you, but do something BIG once in a while. It’s also important to follow through. Starting your new project and never completing it just becomes more stagnant energy to clean up.
- Other energy changers: physically clean the area, pick up/throw away clutter, energetically clean the area by burning a candle or incense, or use the sound of monks chanting on a CD or classical music, clap or ring a bell in all of the corners of the room (corners collect stagnant energy and these activities move it along). Another energy enhancer is to place something alive in the room you want to change, whether that is a plant, or a fish tank, or the constant whir of a hamster’s wheel. Make sure you are prepared to care for these things. Dead energy is not good at all and may contribute to unhappiness. (Another tip: Don’t decorate with dried flowers either. Always go with silk.)
To wrap up: encourage change by shaking up the energy in your life. Pick something that moves (water fountain, fish tank), makes sound (wind chimes), is alive (pets, plants) or smells refreshing to you (incense or potpourri) and introduce it to your environment. You may not love to clean house, but think of it as cleaning up the energy to make a better environment and bring about positive change in your life.
Then get to work cleaning the energy between your ears: remember to have a positive attitude, practice kindness, show compassion for people and animals, or make an effort to be more charitable toward others. When you constantly think of loving thoughts it is easier to become a more loving person, and that will definitely change your energy from stagnant to magnificent!
